August Multiphoto Class

Welcome to this month's multiphoto class! 'Multiphoto' to me pretty much means two photos!..as most of my layouts are focussed around just one photo and I love to use plenty of white space..but this design could easily be adapted to incorporate 3 or 4 small photos..

so to start you off..here are some of the items I've used to create this layout..(I didn't end up using the handcut numbers) I've used a few other things as you will see in the steps below..

step 1: the main focus of the layout will be in the centre of the cardstock so scrape some gesso in various spots..leaving the centre clear.. I used a palette knife to apply the gesso but you could also use an old credit card..

Step 2: using a stencil or mask (I used The Crafter's Workshop 'numbers collage' template) spray some mist/ink in a few spot.. I've flipped the template over a couple of times to actually print with the ink left on it...

Then add a couple of pre-cut cut journal cards and three paper strips (hand cut is fine) and stick them all down..

Step 3: stick down your photos and some pre-punched circles ..

Step 4: add some rough machine stitching through the circles (I stitched vertical and horizontal lines going backwards and forwards a few times)

then add some of the flowers from the kit..I've also added a few matching buttons from my stash..

Step 5: to finish add your title using the small stickers fro the kit..I've outlined them with a white pen..you can also add one of the photo corner stickers if you wish..

feel free to add some hand journaling to the journal cards..I've just chosen to keep mine blank this time..

here's the finished layout..

I thought I'd share a few extra photos to show some details:

I hope you've enjoyed this class and feel inspired to have a go yourself..don't forget the design is totally adaptable..so you can put your own spin on it..eg add more photos or skip the  the background painting/misting steps for a more 'clean and simple' design...

thanks for looking and if you do have a go, please don't forget to share in the MB thread!

August Tecnique Class: Cut It!

Hello!

My name is Hilde, aka Scoobie, and I’m a paper junkie. As long as I have paper and clue, and a pair of good scissors, I’m happy! I admit it, those pre made embellies are soooo convenient, but to me it’s something about just paper.
I love colors and patterns and as soon as I have new papers in my hands I start thinking of how I can cut them. Do they hide any secret patterns? Can I make some coordinating, fun embellishments with them? Some papers require lots of fine cutting, but some of them are easier to work with.

Today I’ll share some ideas about how you can make embellishments of the Carta Bella Cherish paper you find in the August kit.

The probably most obvious is to cut circles from it:

But did you notice you can cut flowers, too?

And when you have cut flowers or circles you are left with some cute diamond shapes.

All these are easy to use on layouts, cards or altered items, just like  I did on this page.

Here is a little close up photo to show how I pimped up my flowers with some stickers from the sticker sheet in the kit.

Have you ever tried to make your own embellies from papers? Do you enjoy cutting as much as I do? I challenge you to study the papers in your kit to find new ways to use them.
Don’t forget to link back to our gallery when you are done so we can leave you some love!

Happy cutting!

.:August kit- Altered Gift box:.

Hi!
Katarina here witht his months altered inspiration :)

The Carta Bella-Beautiful Moments are a really romantic paperline, could as easily be a valentines kit, and I love the dark red together witht he pale green and pale yellow colours.
And today I´m going to share with you a small giftbox-drawer I´ve made for my little girl.

My daughter is 7 yrs old and a huge collector of pretty things, it can be seahells, stones, pieces of seaglass, and other glittery stuff.. and today I did a small treasurebox containing three small matchboxes for her to store those pretty things in...

To make this little pretty box I have used a Silhouette Studio Cutting files. All I had to do was to resize and cut it out with my Silhouette.

When the cut was done all I had to do was to mount all the parts together...

Materials used:
Carta Bella Paperline
Bazzill basics
Satin ribbon
Twine Maraschino red-The Twinery
brads-Indie Chic-from july kit

Hope you got some Ideas to try out yourself :)
If you dont have your own cutting file system you can always find templates at fex Mirkwood Designs.

Have fun!!
