June Member sketch challenge!!

This month, I was inspired by this lovely layout by Lillesmor in the gallery - made with the April Nook kit!

Here is a sketch I created with it:

Here was the DT's take on this one:

Hilde (who turned the sketch 90 degrees)

We invited our winner from the May sketch to be our guest designer - Stephanie Eaken

I am a stay-at-home mom of two kids, ages 9 & 5. I have always loved all things paper & thought as a child that I wanted to be a teacher (that quickly changed). I tried making a few scrapbooks in the 90's but didn't really get into the hobby until my first child was born. I wanted to make a book about her first year. Once I got my hands into things, I never stopped! I adore this craft and can't imagine my days without it! I discovered the Nook while perusing the internet looking for kit clubs when my local scrap store closed their doors. I have enjoyed every minute of every kit received! The blog and forum offer so much inspiration from so very many talented ladies!!
I am somewhat new to the cyber world of scrapping & most recently started a blog in September of 2011: www.stephanie-eaken.blogspot.com.Outside of scrapping, I love to read, walk our two dogs, listen to music & play games with my kids.

Thanks so much for allowing me to join you gals for the June sketch challenge!!!
Hugs,
Stephanie

- check out what she did using this sketch and the May Nook kit!!

We hope you will play along with us too!! Just upload your take on this sketch into the gallery and this thread and YOU could be our next GDT in July! Deadline for this is July 8, 2012 !! Get your scrap on ladies!

June Altered Item Class

Hi everyone! Alex here with an altered item class. This is not only my first class, but it is also my first altered item ever, so yep - I am pretty nervous. I hope you are going to like it!

I am going to show you how to make a simple but very, very cute fridge magnet using your June kit and your June grab bag. This is what you need:

Three different patterned papers, the stickers sheet, twine, the package from the butterfly pins, two different butterfly punhes, little clothespin (I used one from the April kit) and a magnet. My butterfly package was already open when I got this idea, so I carefully glued it together using a clear glue. If your package is intact - even better. Now let's get started!

1. Measure the size of the plastic circle. Note! I am using a centimeter ruler, 6 cm = 2.4 in.
2. Draw a circle with the equal size on the back.

3. Use a knife to cut out the circle. I first followed my drawn line, but afterwads I had to remove some more to get closer to the plastic edge.
4. Make your cut smoother using a file.

5. Cut a 7 cm (2.8 in) circle and punch out your butterflies. Adhere your butterflies to the circle as shown.
6. Add glue around your opening.

7. Attach your butterflies behind the opening.

8. Wrap the twine around the bottom part. I added glue little by little as I was wrapping.

9. Attach flower stickers to the bottom.

10. Attach the "rememeber"-sticker to the clothespin.

11. Adhere your clothespin to the bottom. Let it stick out ovet the edge a little.

12. Adhere your magnet to the back. And....

Voilà! This is how the finished magnet looks like hanging on my fridge. I left a little note to my husband this morning...

I hope you have enjoyed this class and that you feel inspired to give it a try.
If you do, please share it with us in this thread.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Summer Crop Challenge: It's Happy Hour!

Welcome to Happy Hour!!! Deanna here with you today to share one of my absolute most favorite things about the summer.

My family LOVES enjoying all the nice frosty beverages that seem to come along with the hot temps. Here in the U.S. we have a particular restaurant chain, Sonic, that not only makes fantastic slushies but they also have a happy hour from 2-4pm every day. One of our family traditions is to stop by Sonic on the way home from the pool because there's nothing like a good cold drink after spending all day in the hot sun. SO, today's challenge is based on inspiration from Sonic's slushy drinks.

Your challenge is to use your favorite summertime drink as inspiration for a layout. This could be taken from the fruit it takes to make it, the drink's label, how the drinks line up...the sky's the limit! There's only one catch. Since it IS happy hour, you must only take ONE HOUR to complete your layout start to finish! Of course because we're an international board and you have all summer to complete this challenge, you're on the honor system. I trust you. But you only have ONE HOUR to design. Hint: plan ahead. pick out your pictures, materials, etc. before you start the hour. And of course you don't have to take pics, upload and have it in the gallery within in that one hour. The timed part is only for the design process. ;) And in case you need some inspiration, I thought I'd share some of MY inspiration. Here are a few pictures to help with the inspiration.
 Photobucket Photobucket

And here's my one hour layout result:

The reds, blues, yellows and greens in the June kit were a perfect color inspiration for my page. And to make my layout design come in under the time limit I used a pre-printed, pre-embellished sheet of paper. I tore the two matted papers, then mainly used stickers to wrap up my design.

Hope you enjoy this quick summer challenge! Be sure that you post your layout in THIS thread on the messageboard if you chose to play along!

Celebrate Summer Challenge: Pretty patterns and layers

Hi this is my first post here on the Nook blog and I would like to share my challenge for the ongoing Summer Crop.
I hope you are enjoying our challenges and are playing along as much as you can. My fellow designers have thought of so many nice prompts for scrappy projects and you can find all the challenges in the Forum.

In Summer we enjoy wearing light weight clothes in flimsy materials. We like pretty dresses in fabrics with pretty patterns on them.

I would like you to make a layout that has at least two patterned papers and some fabric on it.
I am looking for some lovely layering here. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

This is what made...although I got so carried away with the layering and patterns that I almost forgot to add the fabric,...lol!

I used lots of patterned papers and pulled themall from the same collection to make matching easy.
I think I have eight layers on this page. -And I could have added more....How many will you have?

For fabric I used a nice textured kind that I cut inteo small banners. I put some on each side of the photo.

And in this last close up I am trying to show you some of the layers I added. I love the dimension it adds to a layout!!

That's all from me! Hoping to see many of you participate now that summer is here and we hopefully have some more free time.

I will offer a small RAK to the 'winner' I pick.

Make sure you post your layout in the gallery and in the MB thread.

Deadline is Sunday, August 12 at 11:59 pm PST

 Hugs!

Look what I found in the gallery!

When we look for our Friday Fav, we look in the Kit Creations Gallery.

Today, when I was sucking mojo and ideas from the Member Galleries, I found another lot of lovely creations made with some of our pervious kits and made by our super creative members.

I want to share a few of them with you today - each and every of them could have been a Friday fav, but they were hidden so good, we didn't find them :-(
