Happy Saturday everyone!!!

Today I have a one page layout to share with you.

I loved the big package of journaling sprouts in this kit and decided to focus on using those.

I gathered a collection of coordinating sprouts, punched a few circles out of my patterned paper and started layering.

Here are some close ups of the finished product.....lots of sprouts, lots of layering.

april one page layout class

Hi everyone, I'm here with a one page layout class today and I've used the gorgeous Crate Paper Story Teller line in this month's kit along with a few other products which I've listed a bit further on....

here are the kit items I've used to create the layout..including tags, paper strips/scraps and chipboard frame..

I've used the 'generations' paper for the background and cut out two pieces/tags each from the 'tag cuts' and 'accent cuts' papers.. Ideally one of the tags should have a picture and you'll see why below..

other materials used:

• buttons
• mist/paint/spray ink (I used Studio Calico 'pony' mister huey)
• stencil/template (I used Crafter's Workshop 'harlequin')
• stamp (woodgrain, text or other)
• gesso
• ink
• thread

So to start off I've altered the background a bit using the spray ink and template.. then cut a section of the 'notes' piece just under the woodgrain curved piece so that it sits on top of the photo..then I've stuck down the tags as shown below..

next, I've slipped in the paper strips and photo.. and added the altered chipboard frame and a few buttons..

for the chipboard frame, I've first given it a coat of gesso and then inked it with some distress stain ink.. once dry, I've stamped onto it using a Unity Stamp Co woodgrain stamp in a darker brown ink.. if you don't have a woodgrain stamp, a script/text would also work well..

to finish the layout, I've added in some a title, 'here' sticker and hand journaling..

here's the finished layout..

I hope you feel like creating something using tags and an altered chipboard frame..it's a great way to make a little feature on your layout and along with the buttons add some texture..

March One Page layout

Hi folks!
Ready for the one page layout class for this month? I am sure you are!!!!
Today's class is a one page layout class and I'll be showing how to create a layout with LOTS of circles. Now I must admit I used my cameo for this but you can still create a similar effect without it! So let's get started.

MATERIAL:
March kit

 

 Some tags and a title (you could just use your alphas for this)

  Cameo, coluzzle or a Martha Stewart (/fiskars) punch all over circle punch.

 Step one:
Cut out a circled background in one of your patterned papers using one of the tools mentioned above! You could also trace them and cut them out with and exacto knife.

Step two:
Place it on one of the wood effect patterned papers and add some other patterned papers.

Step Three:
Add some stichting around the sides and also to some of the circles.

Step four:
Place your photos and add banners to either side. Add a tag.

Step five:
Add your title.

Step six:
Add any embellishments you like. I decided to add a rub on. I rubbed it on a scrap piece of patterned paper so that I could pop it on to some 3D foam dots! I also used some brads I had lying around.

And this is the finished product.

1 Page Layout Class

I've got a fun little layout and technique to share with you today.

Now, if you know me at all you KNOW I love stitching on my pages.  Most of the time it's just a little added fun to my borders and such but sometimes I want it to stand out and be a statement piece of my layout.  Today I'm going to show you how to do that with the adorable February kit featuring October Afternoon's Sasparilla.

 First off we'll gather our supplies. Now I wasn't quite sure what I would end up using in this layout, but I usually go through and choose the things I think/or would like to use.

The most important being the cloud paper, a ruler and some thread.

Here's my thought process behind this design decision.  We lived in Texas for a few years and a friend had taken some pictures of my little boy at the time. I knew the b/w would look beautiful on this cloud paper.  One of our most favorite songs was You are My Sunshine.  I sang it to him every night before bed.  So I decided to combine those two memories by creating a sun burst on those fun clouds.

Here's how I did it:

 First off, I decided to keep my photo/cluster at the bottom right of the page.  This way the sunburst can expand out across the clouds.  I used my ruler and simply traced some lines with pencil.  I started in the middle and tried to just evenly space them connecting and crossing over under the area where my picture would sit.

Then I simply stitched those lines with yellow thread.  I wasn't sure about the bottom until I started and decided I didn't want the rays coming out the bottom so I simply erased those lines.  I staggered my stitches across the top edges because I thought that would look a little funner and more carefree. 

Once I finished that I added a small spritz of yellow mist to emphasize the burst.  ( I checked on some scrap paper first to see how I needed to spray it to get it in the location I wanted ;)

Then I created my little photo cluster with a few strips under the right of my picture and placing the title to the left.  I thought I was done but then decided that yellow star might look cute along with a few small buttons to balance it out and show off the sun a bit.

I ended up not using much of what I started with.  Just the cloud paper, the alpha paper which I used for my title and stacking under my photo along with part of the red tag, half a sticker, small piece of ribbon, green thickers and the red alpha's are from the grab bag.  Along with one star and 2 buttons.

I kept my cluster pretty minimal because I didn't want it to overpower the sun, I really wanted that to shine ;)

I hope you are inspired to include some stitching on your layouts and have fun with it!

Nook 1-pager class

Hi everyone!!

How are you all doing?
We all have times when the inspiration needs a small push.. or perhaps a big boot to get going..

So what do you do to get your Mojo flowing?

Well we all have our ways, perhaps you go to Pinterest, scrappy galleries, your favourite blog or perhaps you take out your sketchpad and makes a sketch to work from.

If you dont like to make sketches, perhaps using one from a sketch page works :)

At times I take my sketchpad and make sketches just for these times when the inspo is really low.

For this page I´ve used this sketch as a base on this page.

On this page, using one of my sons schoolphotos I have used the Nook November kit, and used the patterned paper to cut stripes for the matting of the photo.

Ive also used lots of letterstickers besides my small wallet sized photo instead of a large photo.
