My Scrapbook Nook Advent Calendar December 23rd

Hello again!

Made with My Scrapbook Nook December kit + ad ons

If I was an Air Line Company, and you were using one of my planes every time you moved from one country to another during this Calendar Hop, I would be rich *lol*

Today we're going to an exotic place: an island called Iceland! Iceland has been in the news for both the financial crises and stunning nature including vulcano eruptions, but the country has a lot more than that: fish, ponies, great shopping facilities, an outstanding night life and not to forget, the super talented scrapper, one of My Scrapbook Nook's DT members, Anna Sigga!

I know Anna Sigga has been looking forward to hosting today's post for a long time, so please pay her blog a visit, find out what she has for you today and leave her a comment to get a chance to win her RAK.

PS, you have today and tomorrow to leave a comment on Leah's blog, to get a ticket to the Big Lottery!

My Scrapbook Nook Advent Calendar December 22th

Hello!

Made with My Scrapbook Nook December Kit + ad ons

As I have metnioned earlier, My Scrapbook Nook friends is indeed an international group of talented scrappers. Yesterday we visited Sweden in our Advent Calendar, today we're going far, far more south, to South Africa to visit Sam.

Having scrapping friends all over the world, has made me used to working within different time zones. I know my US friends are 6-9 hours behind me, the Australians 7-9 hours in front of me and that the Europeans are equal +/- 1-2 hours. It's quite interesting then to see that Durban, South Africa, where Sam lives,  is in the same zone, when the journey there take half a day, longer than to New York or Ottawa :-)

Let's visit Sam today and see what she has for us in todays Calendar Post. Take a look at the clock in the left bar on her page and notice what time it is. Did you get surprised?

Have a happy Thursday, no matter in which time zone you are!

designer showcase - trio of tags

Hi everyone, Gina here to share this little challenge with you... I've been gathering some Christmas inspiration from Pinterest these last few weeks and can't help but notice some of the gorgeous tags being pinned...here's just a small selection of some that have caught my eye..

so I decided to make these tags using some left overs from the gorgeous December kit..

for the first tag, I've used a piece of 'ski lodge' paper and smaller piece of 'present' then scraped some gesso on and added some chipboard pieces, stickers and little pearl..to finish I've added faux stitching in white pen

for this winter themed tag I've used the 'snow globe' and 'embellish' papers and added some chipboard, stickers and hand cut snowman from the 'present' paper..

for the last tag, I've stencilled the herringbone pattern with mist, then added some stickers, and scraps of the 'present' paper..

so I'd love it if you could have a go at making some tags..not necessarily for Christmas, but maybe a birthday or other occasion!.. Don't forget to share them in this thread if you do!

best wishes,
Gina x

Hi!

Tag made with the December kit

How are you doing? The Christmas preparations, are they all done? Not mine, but I'm slowly getting there: did some baking yesterday, took the family and dog out in the woods to hunt the tree - today it's all about decoration at our house. I tend to do it quite easy, the hardest part is to put up 150 glass bulbs on the tree :-)

Have you ever visited DT member Nicole's blog? If not it's about time - she has a eye for details and is so inpirational. She is today's host in our countdown calendar, so I have a feeling there is a RAK involved for those who visit her today :-)

And don't forget to visit Leah's blog before Christmas to get a chance to win a three month subscription to the Nook Kit Club or a December kit!

My Scrapbook Nook Advent Calendar December 17th

Happy weekend, folks!

Made with My Scrapbook Nook December kit+ ad ons

We're now on day seventeen on our advent calendar. Have you enjoyed the journey so far? There is still another week to go, so stay tuned for more inspiration and giveaways coming your way.

Yesterday we visited a Swede in New Zealand, today we're visiting a Swede in Sweden. Back to Europe, in other words.

It's impressing to see how many of our Nook Friends who master both scrapping and card making. Today's host, Nenne, is certainly one of them. She is a great representative for what I like to call the Scandinavian Style when it comes to scrapping: white space, misting, a great variation of embellishments. Take a look yourself at her blog and don't forget to leave her a comment to be concidered as a potential winner of her giveaway.

See you at Nenne's!

My Scrapbook Nook Advent Calendar December 12th

Happy Monday, everybody!

Made with the Nook December kit+ad ons

I admit it - I'm curious and need to know: when it comes to Christmas Cards, do you send hand made cards, or not? I don't send as many cards as I used to, but I still send cards I have created myself. I know some of my friends and family members would get VERY disapointed if they got one from me made by Hallmark... And as they expect hand made cards, they know how to keep me busy during December.

One Nook friend who surely knows how to make cards is today's Advent Calendar host: ~Jan. She makes the most lovely cards and her blog is a Must See if you need some inspiration. So please head over to her blog to find out what her give away is, and to admire her work :-)

My Scrapbooknook Advent Calendar December 11th

Happy Sunday, friends! So how is your weekend?

Busy? Christmas preparations? I know what you mean... My tree isn't up yet, I haven't baked much either, the presents aren't all shopped in and wrapped blah blah bla. But one thing is sure: Christmas will come, even if all those things aren't done by now...

DT member Lilith has taken some time off her Christmas preparations to put together a little giveaway for one lucky reader. Have you ever visited Lilith's blog? If not, it's about time. She has this cool, laid back style, a kind of minimalistic style with super pretty details that knock your socks off.

Head over to Lilth's blog and get impressed!

PS, don't forget to visit Leah's blog, to get a chance to win a subscription to the kit club.

December Altered Item Class

Hey ladies! It's Pam here today and I want to share with you a fun little gift. We are going to be making a jar of hot cocoa mix. The first thing you will need to do is prepare the mix. The recipe I used was THIS ONE and it made 2.5 jars (I used 16 oz mason jars that I bought from the grocery store).

Now that you have the mix all made up and in your jars, let's get to making that jar pretty. Gather up your supplies:
You will need some patterned paper, trim, and embellishments. For tools, you will need your trimmer, glue, a pencil and scissors, and a 2.5 inch circle punch.
Next we are going to trim 1 piece of patterned paper to measure 10.5"x2" and 1 piece to measure .5"x8.75".
On another piece of patterned paper, punch out a 2.5" circle. For the part of the lid that you screw on and off, trace that on to the patterned paper and cut out the circles.
Glue the punched circle to the flat, circle part of the lid. Glue the ring you just cut out to the part of the lid that screws on and off. Sand the edges if necessary. Glue the .5"x8.75" strip of patterned paper around the edge of the lid. Embellish the top of the jar.
Glue the 10.5"x2" strip of patterned paper around the center of the jar.
Wrap your trim around the jar, securing the start and end of the trim with a glue dot.
Add a little label sticker on the back of the jar, with written instructions on how to prepare the hot cocoa.
Ta da! A quick and easy gift to give to teachers, co-workers, friends, etc.

Sweet as candy!

No, I'm not talking about the tag above, but about today's host, Sherri! Not is she only a fab scrapper, she shares so much of her self and is always positive, just the kind of person you would like to have as a friend.

I know something more about Sherri; I'm not going to keep it to myself, but shout it from the roof tops.

It's Sherri's birthday today!!!!

It's her birthday, she should be given all the gifts, not give one, after all it is her birthday. But as I said, she is sweet as candy :-)

So let's head over to Sherri's blog, wish her a happy birthday, and leave her some love!

PS Don't forget to check back on the blogs you have commented on - you might be a winner!

My Scrapbook Nook Advent Calendar December 8th

Made with My Scrapbooknook December kit

Let's stay another day in Europe. Yesterday we visited France, today we vist the Netherlands and our advent calendar host  Monique.

I don't dare trying to describe Monique's scrapping style - it's a simple-but-loaded-linear-and whimsical-very-Monique kind of style, or what do you think? I suggest you put up Monique's blog on your blog roll, as she is putting up new, fun layouts all the time.

Please pay Monique a visit and leave her a comment. I know she has a giveaway, and may be you are the one who win some yummie for your own stocking?
