Celebrate Summer Challenge: Rainy Days

I wish my holidays were all about sunshine, but there are always some rainy days, too :-(
The theme for this challenge is RAIN.

-How do you prepare for those rainy days?
-How do you spend them?
-What do they look like?
-Have you bought a fun umbrella or wellingtons lately?

We challenge you to show us a layout with the theme rain. You don't have to use the word Rain in your title an feel free to interpret this challenge.

My example shows the closests our budgies come to rainy days :-)

Celebrate Summer Creations

I some times find it hard to scrap summer vacation layouts. I sometimes feel I have scrapped the theme (and subjects) over and over again! You know: pool photos, happy kids, hiking snapshots etc etc. I browse the net to find inspiration and suddenly it's there: the image or challenge that get me started.

Celebrate Summer Challenge: Pretty patterns and layers

Hi this is my first post here on the Nook blog and I would like to share my challenge for the ongoing Summer Crop. 

I hope you are enjoying our challenges and are playing along as much as you can. My fellow designers have thought of so many nice prompts for scrappy projects and you can find all the challenges in the Forum.

 In Summer we enjoy wearing light weight clothes in flimsy materials. We like pretty dresses in fabrics with pretty patterns on them.

I would like you to make a layout that has at least two patterned papers and some fabric on it.
I am looking for some lovely layering here. Can't wait to see what you come up with! 

 This is what made...although I got so carried away with the layering and patterns that I almost forgot to add the fabric,...lol!

I used lots of patterned papers and pulled themall from the same collection to make matching easy.

I think I have eight layers on this page. -And I could have added more....How many will you have?

 

For fabric I used a nice textured kind that I cut inteo small banners. I put some on each side of the photo.

And in this last close up I am trying to show you some of the layers I added. I love the dimension it adds to a layout!!

That's all from me! Hoping to see many of you participate now that summer is here and we hopefully have some more free time.

I will offer a small RAK to the 'winner' I pick.

let's keep it simple sweetie: create a card using 1 pp background, 1 die-cut/journal tag, 1 embellishment (can be handmade if you would like) and 1 sentiment

celebrate summer: summer food

Twice a week, we will be featuring challenges from Celebrate Summer. Today, I am sharing my challenge, which revolves around food, yum!!!

One of my favorite things about summer is the food. Fresh fruits and vegetables are in abundance, ice cream and popsicles are waiting to cool you off, and grilling season is in high gear.

For this challenge, I want you to create a layout about your favorite summer food/drink.

For my example page, I focused on watermelon. My kids loooooove watermelon and it is so sweet and juicy in the summertime. I think we could go through one large one in 2 days if we didn't pace ourselves, ha!

 I used the June kit for this, perfect for summer photo ops;)

Make sure you post your layout in the gallery and in the challenge thread. The deadline for this challenge is Sunday, August 12 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

I will randomly pick someone to send a RAK too!!

The Lift The Person Above You Challenge

As you may have noticed, we have some fixed challenges in our forum over the month (check them out here), both for card makers and layout scrappers. But the DT just cannot stop there: their brains are popping with new ideas and fun activities for our members, and they toss out some extras.

Like in March, when they arranged the Lift The Person Above You Challenge, one card version and one layout version.

good morning ladies. with a busy week ahead of us, celebrating Easter with our loved ones, i thought it would be fun to change up the monday challenge a bit. today's challenge SHOULD be an easier one, or at least have a lot less steps than other challenges

the new monday card challenge: create a CAS card

{1 pp background, 1-2 images/embellishments/die-cuts, 1 sentiment}

you CAN have a stamped image and embellishment (flower, ribbon, twine, bling anything) or you could use a die-cut and an embellishment, or you could you two embellishments with your pp and sentiment, you name it, any combination)

where to post? CARDS forum and in the 'Nook Gallery (to share the inspiration)

I cut up the striped pp in the kit to create the background and added the sticker tag and one button (twine doesn't count *lol*). Greeting is made with the alphas in the kit.
