Tri-Fold CARD Tutorial

Happy Wednesday!  Shellye here with a quick and fun TRI-FOLD card tutorial for you.
Here is my completed card using the November NOOK Kit.
First, you will need to begin with a 6x12 sheet of cardstock or patterned paper (you can you a different size, but modifications will need to be made as to where to score).
Laying your paper lengthwise, you will need to score at 2", 4", 8" and 10" increments (as shown above).
Next, flip your paper vertically.
**You may skip this step and go onto cutting the next lines...I did this more for a visual aid :)**
Make sure that you DO NOT score (or cut) past the 2" and 10" vertical marks (as noted above)
Using an X-Acto knife, cut at 1.5" and 4.5"
^ Your cuts will look like this ^
Next, fold your paper to resemble an accordion or tri-fold wallet.
Cut strips of paper to embellish as desired.
This is the inside of the card
That's all there is to it!  Hope you'll give it a try and have fun with it!

Member inspiration Sketch Challenge

Hi there all you nookers. Each month we love to put one of our member in the spotlight and this month is no exception. It has been quite a task trying to pick someone but I found this little gem to base this month's sketch on. The layout is by Miranda Wedekind. I love the whole feel to it. The white space, the clustering and the use of several photos. We would love it if you played along. Just link your pages up and you might be picked as guest designer for our next sketch challenge. You have until December 18th to play along. Have fun scrapbooking!

Nook 1-pager class

Hi everyone!!
How are you all doing?
We all have times when the inspiration needs a small push.. or perhaps a big boot to get going..
So what do you do to get your Mojo flowing?

Well we all have our ways, perhaps you go to Pinterest, scrappy galleries, your favourite blog or perhaps you take out your sketchpad and makes a sketch to work from.
If you dont like to make sketches, perhaps using one from a sketch page works :)
At times I take my sketchpad and make sketches just for these times when the inspo is really low.
like this one Ive made...
For this page I´ve used this sketch as a base on this page.
On this page, using one of my sons schoolphotos I have used the Nook November kit, and used the patterned paper to cut stripes for the matting of the photo.
Ive also used lots of letterstickers besides my small wallet sized photo instead of a large photo.
I hope that you found some inspiration, and have a really great day!

We are having an Advent Calender!

Hi!
And Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I can’t believe it’s no more than a month until Christmas! Where I live in Norway, we have had a very unusual start on the winter season, with temperatures above the freezing point every day and hardly cold nights. The grass is green, and the pansies still blooming, and it’s hard to get the season spirit. But there is one thing that never fails, and always takes me there, and it’s the advent calenders!

We in MyScrapbookNook DT thought it would be nice to do something together with our readers this last month before Christmas and we invite you all to be a part of our Advent Calender. Here is how it goes:

·         This activity is open for readers of our blog and our forum members.
·         25 participants will host a giveaway on their blog one given day between Dec 1-25th
·         The giveaway should be valued about $5. You don’t have to buy new stuff for this, use what you already have. It could be scrap supplies, a homemade card kit, and offer to scrap somebody else’s photos – whatever you like
·         Participants will present their calendar giveaway on their own blog, and link back to the Nook blog (hey, who doesn’t want more blog traffic?).
·         Anyone who comments on the participant’s blog could be a winner – being a reader of the Nook Blog or a forum member is not required.
·         Participants are free to advertise about this activity, and their posting day, whenever and wherever they like: own blog, forums, FB etc etc
·         The DT will put up a link each day to the actual blog hosting the Advent Calender

Merry Christmas Card

Echo Park's TIMES AND SEASONS

What do you say?

Do you want to be a part of this?
If so, please sign up in the comment section, I’ll put up a master list on Monday 28th . Late entries will be given available spots J

I can’t wait to see what you all will put in those surprise bags.

Have a happy!

Xxx Hilde

november altered class

the november kit is absolutely gorgeous - rich fall colors, fantastic embellishments and of course I had to altered this little birdhouse i bought many months ago.

i painted the wood birdhouse with my vintage photo distress stain.

cut a 1/2"x12" piece of paper, punched a decorative edge, attached one large maya road doily on the roof, cut a piece of the maya road ribbon (one flower) and glued it on top of the doily.

applied liquid glue along the bottom part and the roof - and lastly I sprinkled mica fragments over the liquid glue.

thanks for stopping by :D

Card Sharks Contest Week 2 Challenge 3

Hi everyone! Deanna here with you for your next Card Sharks challenge.

My challenge for you this week has to do with BINGO. Now, when you think of card game bingo isn't necessarily the first one that comes to mind. But it IS a game that you play with a card, or several bingo cards at a time if the case may be.

SO my challenge to you is to create a card using a grid like a bingo card. You DO NOT have to use a bingo card, but if you have some laying around your stash then of course you're more than welcome to use one. But any type of grid will do.

Think outside the box. Think of items that aren't typically used in a grid and arrange them that way. Or how about stitching or using some twine, these would certainly make great cards. So the sky's the limit with this one. As long as you have a grid somewhere somehow on your card, you'll be good to go.

Here's an example I made with the hot-off-the-presses November Nook kit.

So let's see those Bingo-inspired grid cards!

The deadline for this challenge is Nov. 21st

Happy scrapping

Card Sharks week 2 challenge 1

BRIDGE!
is a trick-taking card game played by four players in two competing partnerships with partners sitting opposite each other around a small table. Now for this challenge we will focus on the word BRIDGE and not on the game itself.
make a card with a nature theme and incorporate wood or nails ( elements used to make a bridge).
for my cards i used some woodgrain cardstock and added butterflies and a bird referring to nature. in the second and third card I used some pins representing the nails in the challenge.

complete the challenge below and link up your entry to this post by midnight, PST on November 24th. the challenge will earn you 5 points and three special mentions (chosen by the design team) will earn an extra 5 points. play along to win as many points as possible:)

remember, each round will present you with three challenges: two 5 point earners and one bonus challenge!

have fun creating and here are my cards!

be sure to check back tomorrow for the rest of the challenges for week two!
A full list of rules can be found here!
